David Wagenhauser, former congressional candidate, dies at 65

David Wagenhauser, a former candidate for New York’s 24th Congressional District and a dedicated advocate for his community, passed away on January 11 after a sudden illness. He was 65.

Known for his compassion, unwavering faith, and commitment to public service, Wagenhauser recently campaigned as a Democrat to unseat Republican incumbent Claudia Tenney, aiming to amplify the voices of those he believed were not being heard. A tireless champion for his constituents, family, and friends, Wagenhauser’s legacy is one of advocacy and service.

Originally from Spencerport and a longtime resident of Waterloo, Wagenhauser is survived by his wife of 44 years, Laura, daughter Dana, son Ethan, and a network of friends and loved ones who remember him as a fighter for justice and equality.
