As 2025 begins, 43% of Americans consider themselves overweight, while 55% want to slim down, according to a Gallup survey conducted with West Health.
Women are more likely than men to feel overweight and wish to lose weight, though only 27% are actively working toward that goal.
Thirty percent of respondents reported significant weight loss over the past two years, with 4% attributing it to prescription medication.
Meanwhile, one-quarter of Americans use fitness trackers or health apps, tools that most find helpful for reaching health goals. Despite this, 64% still rely on other methods.
