New York invests $2.9 billion in roads and bridges in 2024

Governor Kathy Hochul announced over $2.9 billion was invested in improving New York’s transportation infrastructure in 2024. The upgrades included enhancements to more than 2,800 highway lane miles, rehabilitation of over 3,100 bridges, and the filling of 1.2 million potholes statewide.

Regional projects spanned from Long Island to Buffalo, addressing safety, mobility, and climate resilience. Additionally, the Thruway Authority invested $321 million into lane miles and bridges, with plans to allocate $477 million for projects in 2025.

These efforts are part of a $33 billion five-year capital plan aimed at modernizing infrastructure, connecting communities, and supporting economic growth across New York State.
