Nearly half of employed holiday travelers, or 49%, plan to work during their vacations this season, up from 34% last year, according to Deloitte’s holiday travel survey.
This trend, driven by the rise of remote work, allows many to extend trips or take vacations they otherwise couldn’t afford.
The survey revealed Gen Zers and high earners lead the “laptop lugger” trend, with 58% and 52%, respectively, planning to work remotely during their trips. Travelers are also finding creative ways to save, such as driving instead of flying or using credit card rewards.
Despite economic pressures, Americans continue prioritizing travel, with millennials leading in both spending and trip frequency, budgeting an average of $3,927 for 2.6 trips this season.
