A man from Auburn was arrested on October 23 after Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies found him unresponsive at the wheel, apparently suffering from an overdose, in the Town of Throop. Sheriff Brian Schenck reported that deputies responded to a call at approximately 3:47 p.m. about a male slumped over in a truck near Turnpike Road and Northup Road.
Upon arriving, deputies administered two doses of Narcan, reviving the driver, identified as Philip E. Kijowski, 35. After receiving treatment at Auburn Community Hospital, Kijowski was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, along with other traffic infractions.
Kijowski was processed at the Public Safety Building, appeared in CAP Court later that evening, and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Throop Court at a later date.
