The New Hope Fire Department in Cayuga County is set to receive $1 million from New York state to replace its outdated station.
The grant, part of the Volunteer Fire Infrastructure and Response Equipment Grant Program, is one of seven awarded to fire departments statewide.
The funding, announced by the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, will support the construction of a new station, replacing the current 80-year-old facility on New Hope Road in Niles.
Overall, the state is distributing $25 million to 88 fire departments across 35 counties.
