The Finger Lakes Community College women’s volleyball team clinched the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, topping SUNY Jefferson in four sets on their home court, Putt Moore Court, after sweeping Onondaga Community College in the semifinals. The top-seeded Lakers now boast a 25-game win streak and a 26-2 overall record as they head into regional play.
Setter Payton Stoddard orchestrated the Lakers’ offense with 32 assists against Onondaga and a season-high 47 assists in the title match. Outside hitter Jackie Neureuter contributed a dominant 20 kills in the championship game, alongside Anna Kurtzhalts, Emma Balduf, and Karynn Price, who collectively added 26 kills.
Head Coach Andrew Solomon was honored as Mid-State Coach of the Year, while Stoddard, the program’s all-time assists leader, earned Player of the Year. The Lakers, ranked #3 nationally, advance to the Region III tournament on Nov. 2-3 at SUNY Niagara.
