The Finger Lakes Community College women’s volleyball team showcased their dominance with two more 3-0 sweeps over Mohawk Valley Community College and Herkimer College, extending their winning streak to 17 matches. The Lakers, now 18-2, overcame a thrilling third-set comeback against Herkimer, rallying from a 22-13 deficit to clinch the final set 28-26.
Sophomore setter Payton Stoddard tied the FLCC all-time assist record with 1,284 career assists, after posting 43 assists and 16 service aces across both matches. Stoddard, on track to break the record, fueled an offense that saw key contributions from Anna Kurtzhalts and Mary Pierce, while Michelina Williams anchored the defense.
The Lakers aim to continue their historic run with a four-game homestand starting October 8 against SUNY Broome, celebrating sophomore day in their next pursuit of victory.
