The Finger Lakes Community College men’s soccer team secured a historic 4-1 victory over sixth-seeded Jefferson Community College in the NJCAA Region III semifinal, marking their first-ever trip to the Region III finals. The Lakers, seeded third, dominated at home with a strong first-half performance that set the tone for the win.
Ben Domann opened scoring at the 26th minute, assisted by Robin Giesing, who scored six minutes later from a Joao Antonio Rocha pass. Rocha added a goal of his own before halftime, assisted by Carl Pontin, giving FLCC a commanding 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Giesing netted his second goal, with Rocha providing another assist. The Lakers’ defense, led by Aiden Nelson’s five saves, held firm, securing a spot in the NJCAA North District B Final against Herkimer College on October 27.
