FLCC Women’s Volleyball celebrates ring ceremony, extends win streak with sweep

The Finger Lakes Community College women’s volleyball team celebrated their 2023 Region III championship with a ring ceremony on Tuesday night, then carried that momentum into a dominant 3-0 sweep over SUNY Jefferson Community College. The victory marked their 15th straight win and elevated the Lakers to #3 in the NJCAA Division III national rankings, the highest in program history.

Freshman Anna Kurtzhaltz led the offense with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while setter Payton Stoddard contributed 20 assists, her 11th game reaching that milestone this season. Stoddard also added 6 digs in a well-rounded performance.

The Lakers, now 16-2, will aim to continue their winning streak on October 5th, when they face Herkimer College and Mohawk Valley Community College in a Region III pod matchup.
