The Finger Lakes Community College men’s soccer team marked Sophomore Day with a 4-2 victory over SUNY Broome, boosting their record to 10-3-3 and extending their win streak to six games. Early goals from Austin Wolfe and Joao Pedro Melo de Oliveria set the tone, putting the Lakers up 2-0 within the first eight minutes.
Carlos Aguiar restored FLCC’s two-goal lead in the 76th minute after a clever assist from Carl Pontin. SUNY Broome managed a late comeback effort, narrowing the gap to 3-2, but Sergio Baron’s unassisted goal in the final minute sealed the victory.
With two assists, Joao Antonio Rocha tied FLCC’s all-time career assist record, matching Eric Marsh’s 27 assists set in 1996-97. The Lakers now enter the season’s final stretch with strong momentum.
