The Finger Lakes Community College men’s soccer team battled to a 3-3 draw against the #10-ranked Onondaga Community College Lazers on Wednesday evening. In a fast-paced match at FLCC’s turf, both teams traded goals throughout, marking the Lakers’ second tie of the season.
Gary Cooper opened the scoring for FLCC in the 9th minute, assisted by Robin Giesing, but Onondaga’s Amani Gasore equalized in the 19th minute. After falling behind 2-1 in the second half, Yaco Gutierrez quickly responded with a goal, leveling the score at 2-2. Giesing’s go-ahead goal in the 75th minute seemed to give the Lakers an edge, but the Lazers’ Tyler Wavercak tied it again in the 82nd minute.
Despite strong defensive efforts and key contributions from keeper Harry Eastwick, who made crucial saves, neither team could secure a late winner. FLCC next faces Clinton Community College on September 7.
