HWS alumni report increasing satisfaction with education in new survey

A new report by Professor Emeritus of Sociology Wes Perkins and recent graduate Jesse Whelan-Small reveals that Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) alumni are more satisfied than ever with their education. Based on surveys conducted since 1987, the study shows a rising trend in alumni satisfaction with how HWS prepared them for life and careers.

The report highlights that 87% of alumni from the most recent survey agree that their HWS education gave them essential skills for navigating a diverse world. Additionally, the percentage of graduates who “strongly agree” with this sentiment has increased over time, reflecting growing confidence in HWS’s impact on graduates’ lives.

Whelan-Small, who co-authored the study, expressed pride in the results, noting the consistent improvement in alumni perceptions of ethical judgment, public service, and understanding global differences. These findings underscore the lasting value of an HWS education.
