The Finger Lakes region is set to enjoy a warm and dry weekend as high pressure continues to dominate the weather pattern. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will climb to mid-summer levels, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s across much of the region. Cooler temperatures in the mid to upper 70s are expected in higher elevations, particularly in the Southern Tier and east of Lake Ontario.
Friday through Sunday will feature mostly clear, sunny skies with light east to southeasterly breezes. A notable weather feature this weekend will be the presence of wildfire smoke aloft from fires in Idaho, which may cause hazy skies. However, surface air quality is not expected to be significantly impacted.
Nighttime lows will be mild, ranging from the mid-50s in interior valleys to the low 60s near the lakeshores. Aside from some possible valley fog in the Southern Tier during the early morning hours, the forecast remains dry and pleasant. Rain chances are minimal until midweek, when a potential pattern shift could bring increased cloud cover and slight chances of showers. For now, expect a beautiful stretch of warm, summer-like weather through the weekend.
