Damar Hamlin named Bills starting safety for season opener against Cardinals

Damar Hamlin will start at safety for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Wednesday.

It will mark his first NFL start since he suffered a cardiac arrest on January 2, 2023.

Hamlin returned to football last season but appeared in just five games, contributing mostly on special teams.

Taylor Rapp will join Hamlin as the two starting safeties to begin the season.

Hamlin has 13 career starts under his belt with 95 tackles, one forced fumble, and 1.5 sacks.
