New York Jurors Could See Pay Increase After 25 Years

New York jurors currently receive $40 per day, a rate unchanged since February 1998. However, this could soon rise as the State Assembly considers a bill to increase the daily rate to $72. The bill has already passed in the State Senate.

The New York State Unified Court System sets jury fees. If your wages from your employer exceed the jury duty rate, the state does not pay. If your wages are less, the state will make up the difference.

Currently, jurors may receive a 1099 tax form if they earn over $600 from jury duty in a year, which would require more than two weeks of service at the current rate.
