Three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna have been canceled after authorities uncovered a plot to attack the events. A 19-year-old Austrian suspect linked to the Islamic State was found with chemical substances and technical devices at his home, according to Austria’s Interior Ministry.
The suspect had recently pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group online. Authorities are examining evidence from his residence and have arrested a second individual in connection with the plot. The planned concerts, part of Swift’s Eras Tour, were scheduled at the Ernst Happel Stadium, leaving fans disappointed.
Event organizer Barracuda Music announced the cancellations late Wednesday, citing safety concerns. All tickets will be refunded within 10 business days, as the Austrian government praised the swift actions that prevented a potential tragedy.
