Zane M. Seubert, 46, of Burdett, has been sentenced to up to nine years in prison for arson and burglary, according to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office. On July 11, Seubert received two to six years for burglary and one to three years for arson, both class D felonies.
The sentencing follows an incident at a storage facility in Hector, where Seubert admitted to burglarizing several campers. He then entered a building at the Hector Union Cemetery and accidentally set hay on fire while attempting to light a cigarette. The fire caused significant damage, requiring the Burdett Fire Department to extinguish it.
Before his sentencing, Seubert paid $60,000 in restitution and was ordered to pay an additional $1,000. His actions resulted in serious damage to the building, highlighting the gravity of his offenses and the subsequent legal consequences.
