The village of Skaneateles has been awarded $375,025 by New York State to construct a sidewalk on Orchard Road, bridging West Elizabeth and West Genesee streets.
This funding, part of the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Climate Smart Communities grant program, aims to fill a critical pedestrian infrastructure gap, enhancing safety and reducing vehicle traffic.
The project is one of several in central New York receiving state support to bolster climate resiliency and curb greenhouse gas emissions.
Other recipients include Syracuse and Onondaga County, each receiving $100,000 for sustainability and climate action plan updates, respectively.
