Fuller Road in Montezuma was closed Wednesday after an 18-wheeler overturned, spilling 100 gallons of diesel fuel.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, escaped but reported chest pain. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was called to clean up the spill.
The road remained closed from Turnpike to Carner roads as of 4:15 p.m. Responding agencies included New York State Police, Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Auburn’s hazmat team, local ambulances, and fire departments from Aurelius, Montezuma, and Aurora.
