The Montezuma Audubon Center has opened its annual online auction, giving supporters a chance to bid on dozens of items while helping fund bird conservation and community programs across the Finger Lakes region.
The auction opened June 1 and will run through 5 p.m. on June 16. Proceeds will support conservation projects and educational programs at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex, Onondaga Lake and other important bird habitats throughout the region.
Items available for bidding include private birding adventures, overnight accommodations at Inns of Aurora Resort & Spa, a MacKenzie-Childs birdhouse, award-winning wines, bird photography, quilts, jewelry and tickets to local attractions.
Chris Lajewski, director of the Montezuma Audubon Center and the Onondaga Lake Conservation Corps, said the fundraiser helps support Audubon’s ongoing efforts to protect birds and their habitats while expanding opportunities for public involvement in conservation projects.
The Montezuma Audubon Center operates through a partnership between the National Audubon Society and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The center focuses on habitat enhancement and conservation work throughout the Montezuma Wetlands Complex, which Audubon recognizes as its first globally significant Important Bird Area.
Founded in 1905, the National Audubon Society conducts bird conservation, education and advocacy efforts across the Americas through a network of state programs, nature centers and local partners.
