The Secret Service ramped up security for Donald Trump after receiving intelligence about an Iranian plot to kill the former president.
A human source alerted the agency weeks before a lone gunman attempted to assassinate Trump. Officials increased protection as Trump campaigned across the country.
Despite the added security, a gunman named Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to shoot Trump last Saturday. There is no known link between Crooks and the Iranian plot. Investigators are still looking into Crooks’ motive.
