Former President Donald Trump is “fine” after being whisked off stage during a rally Saturday night following an apparent assassination attempt. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was shot and killed by Secret Service agents.
Authorities are still searching for a motive. The FBI identified Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pa., as the gunman. He had bomb-making materials in his car but no clear ideological motive. President Biden urged the public not to jump to conclusions and assured a thorough investigation.
The attack left one spectator dead and two others injured. Trump, whose ear was grazed by a bullet, expressed gratitude for the swift response. The Secret Service continues to review security protocols as the investigation progresses.
