On July 3 around 10:56 a.m., Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a speeding car on State Route 34 near the Scipio Fire Department. The driver, Theresa P. Cooper of Ithaca, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Cooper, who had a blood alcohol content of .16%, was charged with felony DWI due to a previous conviction in 2021, as well as misdemeanor charges for driving without an interlock device and speeding.
She was arraigned in CAP court and released on her own recognizance. Cooper is set to appear in Town of Scipio Court at a later date.
