It was a very successful month for the New York Mets (40-41), but it ended with two straight losses, including Sunday’s 10-5 loss to the Houston Astros (42-41) in 11 innings.
After a three-hour rain delay, play resumed in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Mets went on to lose after a bullpen meltdown.
Brandon Nimmo sent the game into the 11th with a game-tying double before Matt Festa allowed five runs (four earned), and the Mets went down quietly to end the contest.
Nimmo also had a game-tying two-run home run in the seventh, and Mark Vientos added a two-run double.
Luis Severino allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings.
The Mets will head to Washington to begin a four-game series with the Nationals on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
