Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Updates and Achievements for May

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has made several significant updates and recognized important achievements in May 2024, showcasing its commitment to community safety and outreach.

This month, the Sheriff’s Office deployed new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for deputies to use during cardiac emergencies. Additionally, three new Junior Deputies, Anthony Anguish, Davon Evans, and Michael Saville, were welcomed with certificates and badges. Custody Deputies Robert Houghtelling and Connor DeChick graduated from the Custody Basic Academy, and David Lawless joined the team as a Deputy Sheriff in the Custody Division.

May also marked Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, with the Sheriff’s Office partnering with ABATE of Cayuga County to promote safety. National Correctional Officers Week and National Nurses Day were celebrated, honoring the essential roles of custody officers and nursing staff. The Sheriff’s Office also participated in Memorial Day parades and continued its collaboration with Community Action Programs to collect cereal for summer food pantries.
