Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) has sent a letter to Governor Kathy Hochul, urging her to pardon former President Donald Trump after his recent felony conviction.
Trump was found guilty by a Manhattan jury on all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to an affair with Stormy Daniels. As this was a New York State trial, only Governor Hochul has the authority to grant a pardon.
Tenney argues that the verdict undermines the justice system’s impartiality, claiming the investigation was politically motivated. In her letter, she wrote, “It is your solemn duty to protect the Constitutional rights of all defendants before our courts.” Governor Hochul’s office has yet to respond to Tenney’s request but previously stated, “Today’s verdict reaffirms that no one is above the law.”
