Two hurt in Canandaigua rollover crash; minor fire reported at Candlewood Apartments while crews on-scene

At approximately 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, emergency responders attended to a single-car rollover crash on County Road 30 near Cooley Road. The crash involved 67-year-old James Burgess of Bloomfield, who swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle and ended up in a ditch, causing the rollover.

Both Burgess and his passenger were taken to Thompson Hospital with minor injuries. They had self-extricated from the vehicle with the help of bystanders before the arrival of Canandaigua Fire, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, Ontario County Sheriff’s, and New York State Police.

Shortly after, Canandaigua Fire and Emergency Squad responded to a structure fire at Candlewood Apartments. Truck 281 arrived to find a mulch fire and a small deck fire on the first floor. The fire was quickly extinguished, resulting in minor property damage.
