Seneca County Undersheriff Melinda Marquart has been named a 2024 New York State Senate “Woman of Distinction,” representing State Senator Tom O’Mara’s 58th Senate District. Marquart, Seneca County’s first female undersheriff, was sworn in at the beginning of this year, marking a milestone in her distinguished law enforcement career.
Marquart will be honored at the Senate’s 26th Annual “Women of Distinction” celebration in Albany on Tuesday, joining nearly 60 other honorees from across the state. The event highlights significant accomplishments and contributions of women within their communities and beyond.
Senator O’Mara praised Marquart’s dedication adding, “She exemplifies bravery and unwavering commitment to service and sacrifice.” Marquart’s career began in 2002, and she has held various roles, including Deputy Sheriff and Investigator in the Family Services Unit.
