Sentencing delayed for former Macedon police chief after DUI crash in Wayne County

Sentencing has been postponed for Fabian Rivera, the former chief of police in Macedon, who faces DUI charges after an incident involving his department-issued vehicle. The delay occurred during a court session on Monday in Walworth Town Court.

On November 22, 2023, Rivera allegedly collided with another car while impaired, near the Gananda school campus. Following the incident, he reportedly drove another vehicle after being taken home, leading to further charges. Rivera resigned from his position the day after the incident and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

There is a disagreement over Rivera’s sentencing between his attorney and the judge. While the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office proposed a conditional discharge, the judge is considering probation. A conference call scheduled for this week will precede their next court meeting on May 20.
