The New York Mets suffered a second straight loss on Monday night, falling 5-2 to the San Francisco Giants in the series opener at Oracle Park.
New York (12-10) generated just four hits and Pete Alonso had two of them, including his seventh home run of the season. Starling Marte had the other two.
Jose Quintana surrendered all five runs in five innings of work. Jorge López, Sean Reid-Foley, and Josh Walker combined for three scoreless.
The Mets will try to snap their two-game skid on Tuesday with Luis Severino on the hill. The first pitch is scheduled for 9:45 p.m.
