Sen. Helming honors Hobart hockey team in Albany

Senator Pam Helming honored the Hobart College Statesmen Ice Hockey team at the state Capitol in Albany for their recent NCAA Division III National Championship victory. The team triumphed over Trinity College with a 2-0 score, marking their second national title in the program’s history. The celebration included recognition on the Senate floor, where the team and their achievements were formally acknowledged.

Coach Mark Taylor, who has guided the Statesmen for 23 seasons, was celebrated for his leadership, which culminated in this championship win. He was also named the American Hockey Coaches Association Division III Coach of the Year for the second time, highlighting his enduring success and impact on the team.

Senator Helming expressed pride in the team’s outstanding performance and Coach Taylor’s exemplary coaching, praising their dedication and success in front of her legislative colleagues. This recognition underscores the significant achievement of the Hobart College Statesmen and their contribution to the sport.
