The 18th-ranked University of Richmond lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back on its way to a 21-8 Atlantic 10 win over Hobart this afternoon. Luke Grayum led the Spiders with seven goals.

UR (7-4, 2-0) scored the game’s first three goals in a span of just 45 seconds and held a 4-0 advantage before the game was five minutes old. Alex Rosa got the Statesmen on the board at the 9:38 mark, but the Spiders ripped off six straight goals to make it a 10-1 contest with 40 minutes still to play.

Grayum did all of his damage in the first half. Dalton Young added two goals and four assists for Richmond.

Trailing 16-2 in the third quarter, Hobart was able to string together four goals in the final five minutes of the frame. The Spiders closed the door on a comeback with three quick goals to start the fourth quarter.

Rosa finished the day with a hat trick. Will Delano and David Peterkinalso posted three points on a goal and two assists apiece. Anthony Dattellas had a goal and an assist, extending his points streak to 21 games. Graduate student Adam Shea won 14-of-26 faceoffs and grabbed a game-high 12 ground balls.

The Spiders’ starting goalie Zach Vigue, who entered the game second in the nation in GAA and fifth in save percentage, made nine saves in 53 minutes to earn the win. Elhanan Wilson made six first half saves for Hobart, while Jack Faiola made eight stops in relief.

Hobart (3-7, 0-2) will return home to host Saint Joseph’s (7-3 2-0) in another A10 showdown. The opening faceoff is set for noon Saturday, April 13.
