Geneva’s Dunkin’ project clears final hurdle: Construction can now commence

After three years of planning and debate, the Dunkin’ project in Geneva’s Ward 6 received approval from the city’s Planning Board on Monday, passing by a vote of 4-2.

This decision paves the way for the development of a new Dunkin’ store at the “Gateway Project” location, situated at the northeast corner of Exchange and East North streets.

The approval concluded with a site plan and architectural review, leaving the developers merely needing to secure a building permit within the next 90 days to commence construction.

The project’s approval marks a significant milestone for the Dunkin’ development, previously stalled due to site contamination concerns.

With the environmental issues resolved following state Department of Environmental Conservation clearance in 2023, the Dunkin’ at Geneva’s gateway is poised to become a reality, despite lingering debates over its design and impact on local traffic safety.
