Canandaigua Town Manager application deadline approaching

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

Canandaigua, a town in search of its next town manager following Doug Finch’s departure in January, has set a March 29 deadline for applications. Interested candidates are urged to submit their résumés and cover letters promptly to be considered for the role. Finch, who took a similar position in Duncanville, Texas, was the town’s first and only manager to date, with Supervisor Jared Simpson temporarily filling the vacancy.

The position offers a salary range from $100,000 to $140,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package and enrollment in the state retirement system. Applications are being accepted via email by Ian Coyle of Geneseo, the consultant engaged by the Town Board for the search, emphasizing the need for a dynamic and innovative professional in public administration.

The town manager will act as the chief administrative officer, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and the implementation of laws, town codes, and policies under the guidance of the five-member Town Board. Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to become a resident of Ontario County within 180 days of their appointment, ensuring a close connection to the community they will serve.
