Trom’s, a popular restaurant in Lyons, is set to close due to challenges faced by its operators, Tim and Mary Knapp. The Knapps, who revitalized the restaurant a year ago, are now focusing on reopening their Monroe County establishment, Noonan’s.
The closure of Trom’s, formerly known as Trombino’s, comes after the sudden and unexpected shutdown of the Knapps’ previous restaurant in Perinton. This event forced them to return to Noonan’s, previously Pub 31, to cover lost income from a lease and loan agreement.
Knapp expressed regret over the decision, highlighting the difficulties in staffing as a key factor, according to reporting by the Finger Lakes Times. The staff at Trom’s largely plans to follow the Knapps to Noonan’s, leaving Trom’s in need of a new operator.
The Lyons restaurant is expected to remain open until the end of the month under their management. The couple, along with building owner Sean Dobbins, are actively seeking a new operator for Trom’s. They believe it represents a great opportunity, noting the excellent condition of the dining room, bar, and kitchen. The existing menu is also available for the new operator’s use.
