Lumos Infrared Sauna Studio, a popular wellness business, is set to expand its presence in the Rochester region.
The company’s Culver Road Armory and Victor locations are poised to double in size, moving into newly renovated storefronts. These expansions will introduce the “Plunge,” a 37-degree cold bath, in each studio, announced owners Rachel Bantelman-Evans and Jordan Evans.
The Culver Road Armory studio is slated to move into a 3,000 square foot facility within its current complex by early February. Meanwhile, the Victor location will relocate to a 2,000 square foot space in the same shopping plaza as the New York Beer Project this spring.
Lumos specializes in infrared therapy, which uses light to treat pain and promote healing, and ice bath treatments known as “The Plunge.” This cold water therapy is believed to reduce inflammation, support the immune system, and help with weight loss, anxiety, and depression. These treatments can be supplemented with an outside sauna.
Each Lumos studio will feature tubs maintained at 37 degrees, where patrons can experience sessions lasting 5 to 7 minutes. These sessions, offered alongside sauna treatments, allow clients to alternate between hot and cold therapy within a 45-minute period.
All Lumos locations provide private sauna suites, accommodating up to four people, and ensure thorough sanitization between uses. Open daily, the studios accept appointments and walk-ins, closing at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends.
