Troopers from the Auburn barracks responded around 5 p.m. on July 7 to a report of a serious crash involving a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 pickup. Investigators say the truck was heading eastbound when it lost control, veered off the north side of the road, and overturned.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
A passenger, 47-year-old Lawanda H. Eaton of Cortland, was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. She had no apparent injuries and remains in stable condition.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and Locke Fire Department assisted.
