Auburn drug bust leads to arrests and weapons charges

The Finger Lakes Drug Task Force announced the arrests of Timothy P. Martin, 37, of Auburn, and Lindsay M. Mitchell, 30, of Weedsport, following a traffic stop and subsequent search that yielded drugs and weapons.

Martin’s vehicle and residence were searched on Wednesday, revealing a stolen loaded semi-automatic handgun, a 12-gauge shotgun, body armor, metal knuckles, significant quantities of drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and “molly”, as well as drug distribution equipment, according to a task force news release.

Martin faces charges including second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful purchase of body armor, and possession of an imitation controlled substance. Mitchell was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon due to prior convictions, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and possession of an imitation controlled substance.

Both individuals were held in the Cayuga County Jail and their cases will be managed by the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation, supported by the Auburn Police Department’s Gun Involved Violence Elimination Team, remains ongoing.
