On August 18 deputies rushed to South Street Road in the Town of Mentz following reports of a single-vehicle motorcycle accident.
Sheriff Brian Schenck revealed that upon arrival, officers found Steven J. Ball Jr. had crashed his motorcycle into a ditch, sustaining minor injuries.
Further on-scene investigations indicated that Ball had been operating the motorcycle under the influence, and without registration, insurance, or a proper motorcycle license. Ball declined medical attention and was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated, among other traffic-related offenses.
Ball was presented at the CAP court the next day, where he was released on his own recognizance with a subsequent court date set. The New York State Police, Cayuga 911 Center, and the Port Byron Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.
