A scooter rider traveling northbound against southbound traffic was struck by a vehicle on North Main Street near Camelot Drive on Friday at approximately 12:09 p.m.
The collision occurred after a vehicle pulled out from a side street, striking the individual on the scooter. The vehicle’s operator stopped immediately following the collision and fully cooperated with authorities, according to the Canandaigua Police Department, who responded to the scene along with the Canandaigua Emergency Squad and Fire Department.
The individual on the scooter was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight Central, having sustained a head injury and possible fractures to his extremities.
The operator of the vehicle was not ticketed, as the investigation found that the scooter was being operated on the wrong side of the roadway.
