The organizers of the Sentient Festival, a nudist event scheduled to take place in Cayuga County, have announced the cancellation of the 2023 festival.
The decision came after an internet influencer made serious allegations against the festival’s primary sponsor, Nudism.TV, resulting in numerous threats of violence, including death threats, against the founder of Nudism.TV and his family.
While the festival organizers were determined to uphold the event’s principles of Body Justice, including the expression of being naked in nature, they prioritized the safety of the facilitators and participants.
In a statement, Bri Leonard of Sentient Festival expressed sorrow over the cancellation and thanked all those involved for their commitment, stating, “We are not giving up or going away.” Despite being heartbroken about the decision, the organizers reaffirmed the importance of the safety of all involved. The statement also conveyed hope for the festival’s return next year and a request for continued interest and support from participants and facilitators.
