  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

Ontario County officials have announced two openings on the county Planning Board and are inviting interested residents to apply. The roles will specifically represent the towns of Canandaigua and Hopewell. The Planning Board, which meets monthly, is responsible for reviewing development applications, planning reports, and code amendments, assessing their potential county-wide or intermunicipal impact, and making recommendations to local municipal boards.

Applicants must be Ontario County residents and are expected to advocate for their town’s interests, with experience in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, historic preservation, transportation, economic development, or environmental preservation considered beneficial. The roles provide an opportunity to deepen understanding of planning and zoning rules and procedures, and to contribute subject matter expertise to the board’s review process.

Interested individuals are encouraged to send a letter of interest to Linda Phillips at [email protected]. Further information about the board and its activities can be found at co.ontario.ny.us/516/Ontario-County-Planning-Board, with past agendas and minutes available at co.ontario.ny.us/agendacenter.
