A Canandaigua man arrested last month after being accused of raping a minor is facing even more, serious charges.
Joshua Abril-Alicea, 28, of Canandaigua now faces charges of possession of child porn and receipt or distribution of child porn.
In his original arrest, Abril-Alicea was accused of raping a minor at Sonnenberg Gardens.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received tips going back months that an IP address connected to the 28-year-old was exchanging child pornography online.
The victim in one of the incidents is said to be between 6 and 8 years old. In late-April state police served a search warrant at his Canandaigua apartment. That’s when he was seen leaving with a teenager.
State police conducted interviews, which led to the arrest and updated charges.
