On Friday 32-year-old Kevin Walker from Elmira was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.

Walker was found guilty of possessing and intending to distribute methamphetamine in Central New York, a crime to which he pleaded guilty in a 2022 court hearing.

In addition, Walker is required to serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his imprisonment.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office Northern District of New York, the charges originated from an incident on February 12, 2022.

Walker confessed to driving a rental vehicle from Elmira to Cortland with the intention of selling 447 grams of pure methamphetamine to another individual. This drug exchange was planned to take place in a Cortland business’s parking lot. Walker also admitted to carrying an additional 137 grams of cocaine in the vehicle at that time.

The arrest came about as a result of a confidential tip-off, leading investigators to tail Walker from Elmira to Cortland. The total street value of the drugs found in Walker’s possession during his arrest was estimated to be around $40,000.
