Ithaca man faces felony charges, held without bail after knife attack

On April 20 around 6:55 p.m., Ithaca police responded to a violent altercation on the 600 block of West State Street, involving two individuals. Upon arrival, officers separated the involved parties and discovered that one person had been slashed with a knife during that dispute.

The victim, who sustained non-life-threatening lacerations and wounds to his arms and hands, was treated at the scene by members of the Bangs Ambulance Company. Ithaca Police Officers documented and collected evidence of the crime.

The suspect, 40-year-old Christopher D. Reyers of Ithaca, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with first-degree attempted assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Reyers was arraigned by Ithaca City Court Judge Wallace and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail with no bail.

The Ithaca Police Department expressed gratitude to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the deputies who assisted with emergency calls in the City of Ithaca while the incident was being investigated.
