Montezuma Winery moving on expansion

Montezuma Winery, owned and operated by the Martin family, has announced the groundbreaking of a new tasting room that is expected to be completed by fall of this year. The 5,700-square-foot expansion of the tasting room will include an extended bar, more seating, and a separate space for larger groups. In addition, the Seneca Falls winery will be offering food options such as freshly baked bread and soft pretzels to accompany their current selection of local cheeses and snacks.

The Martins purchased the land in 2001 after starting the business in a garage in Sterling. They now produce a variety of wines, as well as spirits through their Hidden Marsh Distillery brand. The winery is planning to add an outdoor courtyard with additional seating in spring 2024.

Co-owner Bill Martin expressed his gratitude towards customers and the community for their support throughout the years, and said in a news release, “Since the pandemic, our tasting room and the customer experience has really evolved and we are happy to be able to accommodate that with our new space.”

During the construction of the expansion, Montezuma Winery, located at 2981 Routes 5 and 20, will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
