Authorities are investigating the death of a male inmate at the Ontario County Jail.
Sheriff Cirencione says that around 5:45 a.m. on March 6th a male inmate was found unresponsive in his cell.
He says corrections staff immediately requested EMS and Canandaigua Ambulance was dispatched. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that the inmate had no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ontario County Coroner.
The deceased individual was transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The inmate was the sole occupant of the cell where he was located, Cirencione added.
The detail remains under investigation. Both the Attorney General’s Office and sheriff’s office are investigating.
