UPDATE: Troopers ID Clifton Springs man as victim in Farmington wreck

State police provided a second update over the weekend on the fatal crash that claimed one life in Farmington on Friday.

Cole Estey, 35, of Clifton Springs was killed in the crash on Shortsville Road.

State police added that the investigation remains active at this time.


Fatal crash under investigation in Farmington

On Friday, February 10th first responders were called to a deadly wreck on Shortsville Road in the town of Farmington.

At approximately 1:55 p.m., a car crashed into a tree and caught fire, with the driver still trapped inside. State police were immediately dispatched to the scene.


Upon arrival, Troopers and bystanders attempted to extinguish the flames, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The Shortsville Fire Department arrived and put out the fire. The person inside was extricated from the wreckage with the help of the Ontario County Emergency Management Office, Shortsville firefighters, and Farmington Service towing.

The body was transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination and identification.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the identity of the driver remains unknown. The authorities have asked for anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help with the investigation.
