The Rochester Americans opened their 67th season in the American Hockey League with a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Marlies on Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena.
Special teams were the difference in this game, as the Amerks scored three of their four goals on the power play, and the other came shorthanded.
Linus Weissbach, Brett Murray, Chase Priskie, and Isak Rosen all found the back of the net. Sean Malone tallied two assists.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen started between the pipes and turned aside 22-of-24 shots.
Rochester finished 3-for-6 on the man advantage and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at Coca-Cola Coliseum. The puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
